  • This test is used for three purposes:
    • To examine how each of our classes rank in relation to classes in other schools nationally. For example, our 8th grade class scored higher on the Reading test than 95 percent of all other 8th grade classes who took the same test.
    • To determine individual student strengths and weaknesses
    • To evaluate our curriculum
  • Percentile scores range from 0 to 99. The 50th percentile is average.
  • The Composite score is a compilation of subtest standardized scores. This year all the grade level composite scores are in the 88th percentile or higher.
  • In particular, we are interested in the scores of the 8th grade class. All of the subject area scores are 91st percentile or higher, with the composite score in the 98th percentile, an indicator of preparedness for high school academics.

Tracking individual classes:

We tracked the composite scores of five different classes over the past three years.  Testing analysts caution against drawing too many conclusions from:

1 – small sample sizes (like ours)

2 – composition of groups changing each year (in our case adds and drops)

Nonetheless, we felt it helpful to look at the progress of students by class Composite score.
